Empowering Society Through First Aid Education & Skills
The First Aid Council of India (FACI) is a dedicated organization committed to promoting First Aid Education, Emergency Preparedness, Health Awareness, Skill Development, and Community Safety across India. Established in 2017, FACI was founded with the vision of creating a society where every individual possesses the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to respond effectively during medical emergencies and life-threatening situations.
India faces numerous challenges arising from road accidents, workplace injuries, natural disasters, sudden illnesses, and public emergencies. In many situations, the first few minutes after an incident are critical and often determine the outcome for the affected person. Recognizing the importance of timely intervention, FACI was established to bridge the gap between emergency occurrence and professional medical assistance.
Since its inception, FACI has worked relentlessly to promote First Aid literacy among students, teachers, healthcare workers, community volunteers, corporate employees, and the general public. Through structured training programmes, academic collaborations, community outreach initiatives, awareness campaigns, and skill development programmes, FACI has empowered thousands of individuals with life-saving knowledge.
FACI believes that First Aid is not merely a healthcare skill; it is a social responsibility. The organization envisions a future where First Aid education becomes an integral component of school education, higher education, workplace training, and community development. Today, FACI continues to expand its reach through academic partnerships, institutional collaborations, training centres, and innovative educational initiatives aimed at building a safer, healthier, and more prepared India.
To empower individuals and communities with life-saving knowledge, practical emergency response skills, and health awareness through education, training, collaboration, and innovation.
To create a nation where every citizen possesses the confidence, competence, and willingness to provide immediate assistance during emergencies and contribute to a safer society.
India is one of the world's largest and most diverse nations, home to more than 1.4 billion people. Every day, millions of individuals travel, work, study, and engage in activities that expose them to potential accidents, injuries, illnesses, and emergencies. Despite significant advancements in healthcare infrastructure, professional medical assistance is not always immediately available when emergencies occur.
In many situations, the first few minutes following an accident or medical emergency are the most critical. Prompt and appropriate First Aid can prevent a condition from worsening, reduce complications, preserve life, and improve the chances of recovery. Unfortunately, a large percentage of the population lacks the knowledge and confidence required to provide immediate assistance.
Road traffic accidents, workplace incidents, burns, choking, cardiac emergencies, natural disasters, drowning, poisoning, and sudden illnesses continue to pose significant challenges across the country. The need for trained citizens who can respond effectively before professional help arrives has never been greater.
First Aid Education is therefore not merely an additional skill; it is a fundamental life skill. It empowers individuals to act responsibly, confidently, and effectively during emergencies, and promotes community resilience, public health preparedness, and a culture of care and social responsibility. The First Aid Council of India believes that every citizen should have access to First Aid Education and that every school, college, workplace, and community should actively promote emergency preparedness and health awareness.
Since its establishment in 2017, FACI has worked consistently to promote life-saving education and practical emergency response skills across diverse communities. FACI's strength lies in its commitment to quality, accessibility, innovation, and social impact — focusing not only on theoretical knowledge but also on practical competency.
